Each year, Franchise Business Review’s researchers aim to identify those who set an exceptional example of achieving success within their franchise model. Beau was selected from over 36,000 franchisees, representing more than 360 brands that participated in Franchise Business Review’s research.
Those who made the prestigious list were nominated by their franchise brand’s leadership in one of eight categories as franchisees who set admirable examples when it comes to leadership, business acumen, financial and professional success, and contributing to their community. Categories included: Giving Back, Women, Millennials, Veterans, Family-Owned, “Freshmen”, Top-Performers, and Multi-Unit Owners. Beau earned a spot in the Family-Owned category.

Beau is a third-generation owner of Weichert, Realtors® – Jim Dunfee & Associates, one of the top Weichert® franchises in the nation. His appreciation of the traditional approaches instilled by his father and grandfather, along with his implementation of innovative methods and technology, has helped his family brokerage continue to evolve and sustain high levels of success for over 60 years.
Beau’s grandfather, Jim Dunfee, Sr., started the brokerage in 1958 and Jim. Sr’s son, Jim Dunfee Jr., joined the company in 1972 before taking over in 1985. Jim Jr. continued to grow the company through the years and in 1995 merged with his father-in-law, Al Zeisz (Beau’s maternal grandfather), who co-owned a similarly sized company in South Bend. In 2010, Jim Jr. made the decision to franchise with Weichert® to help inject energy into the company and gain industry-leading technology, tools, and support for their agents and clients.
Beau graduated Notre Dame Law School in 2013, passed the Indiana bar, and began working for a real estate title insurance company as a staff attorney. In 2015, Jim Jr. recruited Beau into the family business when Beau wanted a more dynamic career track. Beau earned his broker’s license and his legal background was a perfect fit to immediately help him gain credibility with clients and his fellow agents.
Jim Jr., known for his training excellence, put Beau through his new agent regiment, including working phones and open houses. Beau learned the business from the ground up but ultimately learned the most by watching how his father worked. Beau’s young perspective, fresh energy and appreciation for technology made a great complement to his father’s traditional approach and personal touch.
Beau respects the foundation that his father and grandfathers built and has tried to enhance what works well with modern methods. Jim Jr. continues to mentor and help train new agents, while Beau’s focus is on luxury sales & recruiting, specifically attracting new and younger agents into the business. Together, the father-son duo has expanded their team to over 50 total agents and cemented the company as one of the top-performing Weichert affiliates in the country. Their brokerage was once again named to the Weichert Premier Client Group this year, which recognizes the top-30 producing Weichert affiliated companies throughout the nation. Also in 2023, Beau was given the Realtor of the Year Award for the South Bend Area Realtors and honored by the South Bend Regional Chamber by being named to the Michiana Forty Under 40 2023 class.
