SOMERSET, Ky. / February 24, 2022 — Danny Ford, co-owner and founder of Weichert, Realtors® – Ford Brothers, was recently presented with the Distinguished Community Service Award by the Somerset Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce.
The honor is given to those who have dedicated a lifetime of service to the community, serving as an inspiration in business and in their efforts to make the region a better place to live, work and play.
“I’m honored to be recognized with this award by the Chamber of Commerce,” said Ford. “My family and I are very passionate about helping improve our community and giving back to many wonderful charitable causes.”
Danny Ford and his brother, Sam, opened their real estate business back in the 1960s, and have since grown the brokerage to six offices and over 70 agents. In addition to his over 47 years working in real estate, Ford has served in the Kentucky House of Representatives for 30 years. As the longest serving Republican in the statehouse since 1900, Ford has worked in many leadership roles, including as the Republican floor leader from 1995-98 and the Republican Whip from 1993-94, and again in 2011.
Outside of politics, Ford has also been extremely active in the local community. He was the director of Kentucky’s Surplus Property Division, helped establish the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame in Mt. Vernon, and has helped aid the United Way, March of Dimes and many other community fundraisers along with his family.
