Terry Kreissl’s Volunteer and Fundraising Efforts Support Hilton Head Humane Association
HILTON HEAD, S.C. / March 20, 2017 – Dogs can do some frustrating things from time to time. They bark at the mailman, run through the house with muddy paws and jump up on furniture after being told not to.
You would think man’s best friend would end up in the dog house after high jinks like that, but most don’t. Their adorability keeps earning them a free pass.
Just ask Terry Kreissl, a real estate agent at WEICHERT, REALTORS® – Coastal Properties in Hilton Head who lives with Marley, a 100 pound Labrador retriever. Or who Kreissl often calls the king of the castle.
Kreissl rescued Marley when he was a puppy, a day she’ll never forget. Now she spends much of her free time helping the Hilton Head Humane Association find permanent homes for rescued pets like Marley.
“I get such personal satisfaction from helping place dogs and cats in a forever home,” said Kreissl, who is also the proud owner of Valetine, an 18 year old yellow tabby cat that she rescued when he was a kitten. “Our shelter is a no-kill shelter so we spend a tremendous amount of time making sure these animals are placed in the right homes.”
No two days at the animal shelter are ever the same for Kreissl, who enjoys taking on different volunteer assignments.
Kreissl volunteers with an outreach program that brings pets to local schools and retirement homes for visits. She also works with local pet stores and volunteers at animal adoption events. Kreissl and Marley will also be a part of next month’s Dog Walk at Coligny Beach, a fundraising event on April 29 to benefit the Hilton Head Humane Association.
“I try to do at least two to three fundraising events each year to help support the Humane Association,” said Kreissl, an eight year volunteer with the animal rescue organization who is helping secure event sponsors for this year’s Dog Walk. “Fundraising helps us save a lot of animals. Walking your dog with us on April 29th brings us one step closer to this year’s fundraising goal.”
Kreissl encourages pet owners and pet lovers to join her and Marley at this year’s Dog Walk to show their support for Hilton Head’s Humane Association. “It does so much for the soul to do this for dogs and cats in the Lowcountry.”
