OVERLAND PARK, Kan. / January 26, 2024 — Jessica Patterson, an agent with Weichert, Realtors® – Welch & Company in Overland Park, was recently honored with the Helping Hand Award by Inside Real Estate for her outstanding advocacy and work with local survivors of domestic abuse.
In 2016, Patterson fled from domestic violence, seeking refuge at SafeHome with nothing to her name. Fast forward five years, she’s transformed into a passionate advocate for survivors. Since starting her real estate business in 2021, Patterson has dedicated herself to collecting items for domestic violence survivors, making annual donations to SafeHome, and actively educating others about domestic violence signs and support. Throughout the year, Patterson assists numerous individuals, offering resources, providing temporary shelter in her own home when needed, and guiding them to essential services. Her mission is clear: “To lead with compassion, love, and empathy so that no human ever feels the way she did.”
Beyond her advocacy for survivors, Patterson demonstrates her commitment to the community by delivering food to those in need. She’s also started a nonprofit for temporary shelter, participated in Habitat for Humanity home builds, and adopted families to provide essential support.
