WAOR is a valued resource for its members and the Waco community. The organization serves to build education, professional competence, public awareness, political involvement, and social activities to benefit its members and the community.

Reed first came to Central Texas in 1983 as a graduate student at Baylor University. He relocated to Oklahoma City in 1991 before returning to Waco in 1998, where he currently resides with his wife and their two children.
Reed has been active in the Central Texas community, serving as a board member of the Arthritis Foundation, Advocacy Center, Boy Scouts, Rotary, Masonic Lodge, and a many other professional organizations.
