SIOUX FALLS, S.D. / March 19, 2020 – There are a lot of things causing fear in today’s world. For many it’s the coronavirus.
But fear for a child living in an abusive home can be telling someone about that abuse.
hat’s why Eric Munz, a real estate agent at Weichert, Realtors® – The Agents, is always ready to hop on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and ride wherever he’s needed to help an abused child.
Munz is a member of Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA), an international biker community that empowers young abuse victims to speak up.
“Imagine being a kid who has to go into a courtroom and face his or her abuser and tell people what he or she did to them,” said Munz. “It’s probably the scariest thing they’ll ever do in their life.”
“That’s where Bikers Against Child Abuse can help,” added Munz. “We escort the child to the court room and empower them to tell their story and hopefully break the chains of child abuse. Seeing a bunch of tough-looking bikers who are there to protect them gives them the courage to speak up and tell someone what happened.”
Munz joined BACA’s Great Plains Chapter in Sioux Falls, South Dakota three years ago and his involvement with the international bike club has been unforgettable.
“Riding up to the front steps of a court house and standing arm-to-arm with other bikers gives a child the strength to tell their story and that, in turn, allows their healing process to begin,” said Munz. “I can’t think of doing anything more rewarding.”
