Weichert® Affiliated Agents Compete in DragonBoat Race, Raises Funds for Cancer Support Services
BEAUFORT, S.C. – Aug. 11, 2017 – There was zero chance a team of agents from WEICHERT, REALTORS®- Coastal Properties would sell a house in the middle of the Beaufort River when they were out on the water a few weeks ago. But they could do something to help cancer patients and survivors locally.
That’s why the Weichert® affiliate was thrilled to trade in their “For Sale” lawn signs for boat paddles on June 24 and participate in the 5th Annual DragonBoat Race Day at the Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park in Beaufort. The team finished third in their race category, but more important than a spot on the winner’s podium was a chance to help support DragonBoat Beaufort, a non-profit organization that assists cancer patients, survivors and their families in Beaufort County.
“We had such a great time at DragonBoat this year,” said Kelly Weber, the sales manager at the real estate company and captain of her team’s boat, Weichert Warriors. “Cancer is something that touches so many people. Being part of this annual event gives us a chance to help cancer patients that live, work, or receive treatment here in Beaufort County.”
WEICHERT, REALTORS®- Coastal Properties participated in its first DragonBoat Race last year, where they were crowned the event’s top fundraising team. The money raised by this year’s team pushed its two-year fundraising total close to $13,000.
“Our team will definitely be back for next year’s DragonBoat race,” added Weber, who has lost several family members to cancer. “Anything that we can do, whether big or small, can make a difference in the lives of those touched by this disease.”
