SIMPSONVILLE, S.C. / Dec. 4, 2020 — Although this year’s Simpsonville Annual Christmas Parade may look a bit different than normal, community members will still be able to safely celebrate at the drive-through event thanks in large part to the efforts of the event sponsors and organizers.
Weichert, Realtors® – Shaun & Shari Group is the presenting sponsor of the city’s Christmas parade for the second-straight year, and the company is helping make final preparations for the event to ensure residents can enjoy the safe and socially distanced parade.
“This parade has always been one of the city’s biggest and most celebrated events, so we’re very proud that we’ll still be able to hold the event and allow our community members to celebrate safely,” said Shari Phillips, who owns Weichert, Realtors® – Shaun & Shari Group with her husband, Shaun Phillips.
The extensive planning by the sponsors and organizers has been pivotal in preparing for this unique parade and will allow for the community to enjoy one of the city’s most popular annual events in a safe manner.
This year’s parade will take place on Sunday, December 6 at Heritage Park. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s been modified to a drive-through event. Parade entrants will be assigned a stationary position along Dennis Waldrop Way, and spectators will remain safely in their cars and drive by for viewing. A safe distance will be maintained between the parade entrants and spectators’ vehicles.
Spectators will drive through the park from the main entrance at S.E. Main Street and exit the park at Howard Drive. Children are encouraged to bring their letters to Santa, which can be dropped off inside the large red mailbox at the end of the parade.
This year’s theme of “Home for the Holidays” will celebrate Simpsonville and all the amazing people and places within the community. Awards will be given to the first, second and third place winners of the People’s Choice Award.
“This event is just one way for our office to give thanks to the community for all its support over the years,” said Shaun Phillips. “It feels great to give back and help get our residents into the holiday spirit.”
